An Experimental Study for Swelling Effect on Repairing of Cracks in Fine-Grained Clayey Soils

Earth-dam failure starts with cracking in the clay core, and this is not easy to detect prevent. Therefore, swellable a feasible solution, which helps close cracks automatically based on self-healing process. The presented study utilizes experimental procedures analyze swelling behavior of fine-grained clayey soils prevent structural regarding crack generations. In regard, materials were modified using Kaolin Bentonite mixed various weight percentages (2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0, 12.5%) extracted geotechnical characteristics studied soils, included 90 specimens 85 tests, such as physical properties, consolidation, particle-size analysis, hydrometry, Atterberg limits, compaction, odometer, pinhole. results revealed that more than satisfied for features soils. Regarding numerous provides optimum (attained 10%) compared Kaolin. As verification procedure, pinhole test was performed samples, dominant controlling water flow through samples.
